Vera de Estenas: a history of passion for wine

The wine tradition of Vera de Estenas is a journey through time and generations. Francisco Martínez Bermell, guided by his grandmother Filomena, discovered the essence of the family winery in El Grao, a fishing village. Fascinated by the tanks, stairs and oak barrels, this experience left an indelible mark on his memory and marked the beginning of a bond with the world of wine.

The Second World War marked a new chapter when Francisco’s father settled in Utiel. Inspired by Don Pascual Carrión, he saw the potential of the region’s grapes and the possibility of creating exceptional wines. Under the roof of Casa Don Ángel, with the support of his brothers, he began producing the first bottled wines.

Today, with more than one hundred and fifty years since the beginning in El Grao, and through the generations, the passion for viticulture and oenology continues. The values ​​of careful care of the grape varieties, artisanal winemaking and ageing in the Casa Don Ángel winery continue to exist at the heart of the Vera de Estenas estate. This house, which in its essence carries the history of the family, brings a simple but profound message: “There are no secrets, you have to love wine”.
